The Evolution of Innovation: Atlantic Towers' Journey

Milestones of Innovation

From our humble beginnings to industry leadership, explore the pivotal moments that shaped Atlantic Towers.

Early 80's

Foundation of Atlantic Towers

Atlantic Towers was established by Steve a vision to revolutionize marine accessories, focusing on quality and innovation. Became a OEM for established brands.

1988

"Tower Lady"

Shelley joined Atlantic Towers and soon became known in the Boatshows scene as well by customers as the "Tower Lady". Shelley took over Sales and Marketing ever since then.

1990-1991

Resisting Recession

The Company successfully weathered the 1990–1991 recession and the adverse effects of the Federal Luxury Tax imposed on recreational boats. With its OEM customers ceasing operations, the Company redirected its efforts toward serving individual customers in the aftermarket sector.

Early 2000s

R&D Breakthrough

Atlantic Towers has pioneered the development of proprietary extrusions and an innovative technique for constructing Custom Hardtops utilizing a composite aluminum/fiberglass structure. This advanced approach results in hardtops that are typically only one third the weight and less than half the cost of conventional cored fiberglass retrofit hardtops, representing a significant advancement in both efficiency and affordability within the industry.

Mid 2000's

Tower in a Box

Atlantic Towers proudly unveiled its inaugural Tower in a Box® product, the Trampoline T-top, which made a highly successful debut at the Norwalk Boat Show—marking an exciting milestone in our journey.

Early 2010's

Facing the Clones

Despite facing competition from imitators, no clone has matched our product to this day. We remain unwavering in our commitment to providing quality and service that are truly inimitable.

1990-1991

Introduction of MK2 Series

Continuing a legacy of innovation, Atlantic Towers launches the MK2 series which is set to redefine versatility and performance in marine accessories.

Triumph at Norwalk

A Breakthrough Debut

The Norwalk Boat Show marked a turning point for Atlantic Towers, with the Trampoline T-top capturing the attention of boating enthusiasts. In its first year, we proudly sold several hundred units, a testament to the product's exceptional design and functionality. Customers praised its universal fit and durability, solidifying our reputation as industry pioneers. This success not only fueled our growth but also set the stage for future innovations, despite the rise of imitators. Our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction remains unwavering, as we continue to lead with integrity and innovation.

A Letter From the Founder

To Our Valued Customers and Future Friends of Atlantic Towers,

When Atlantic Towers began in the early 1980s, it started with a simple idea: boaters deserved tower and T-top systems that were strong, functional, and built by people who truly understood life on the water. With a background in mechanical engineering and years as a charter captain, I saw firsthand what worked, what didn’t, and what could be done better.

From our first custom tuna towers built on Long Island to the development of innovative, modular solutions like Tower in a Box®, Atlantic Towers has always been driven by craftsmanship, problem-solving, and a commitment to quality. Along the way, the company grew through collaboration with leading boat builders, hands-on feedback from customers, and a willingness to adapt as boating — and boaters — evolved.

Today, with  structures in use worldwide, Atlantic Towers continues to design and manufacture products that balance strength, simplicity, and versatility. Whether custom-built or universal fit, every structure reflects decades of experience and a deep respect for the marine environment.

Looking ahead, our focus remains clear: continue innovating, refining our designs, and supporting boaters with products they can trust for years to come. Thank you to our loyal customers who helped shape this journey — and welcome to those just discovering Atlantic Towers. We look forward to being part of your time on the water.

With sincere gratitude,

Steve Tull
